Fountain City BMX is operated under the sanction of the
(NBL) National Bicycle League and adheres to their guidance and rules in all ways.
ELIGIBILITY: Any person who can ride a bicycle is eligible to compete in events held at this track. All eligible persons must first obtain a membership from the NBL. Memberships are obtained by completing an application that is available at the tracks Registration Building. Membership fees are $45.00 per year, or an first time applicant may take a trial membership, which lasts for 30 days by paying $30.00. The trial membership can be upgraded to a full one year membership by paying the remaining $15.00 fee at any time during the twelve-month period following the initial application. When you first come to the track, please bring some proof of age if possible (ex. birth certifcate, drivers license, etc..) All Memberships expire one year from the date of application and must be renewed for continued participation. Your NBL membership will be accepted at any NBL sanctioned track.
LOCAL FEES: In
addition to the membership fees, Fountain City BMX collects a
participation fees from each riders on race day. The fee is broken down.
If a riders wished to race for a trophy and points, the fee is $10.00,
but for points only it is $8.00. The fees are collected locally and are
used by the track for maintenance, development, NBL fees and insurance,
rider awards and year end banquet with volunteer and rider recognition
awards.
EQUIPMENT NEEDS: The following safety equipment is
required:
- A full-face helmet in good condition,
manufactured to meet or exceed recognized bicycle safety standards.
All helmets must be equipped with a chinstrap, which must be
properly secured when the helmet is in use. (Riders may rent full
face helmets for $1.00 at the track)
- Long sleeve shirt and Long pants made of a
tear-resistant material (jeans) must be worn with loose pant legs
wrapped, tied or clipped. Sweat pants are not suitable.
- Shoes must have soles soft enough to grip a BMX
style pedal.
- Bicycle - 20" may be used in all classes except
for 24" cruiser. (All bicycles must be in good condition, without
cracked frames, bald tires, loose or missing spokes, broken pedals,
loose chains or other obvious defects. Chain guards, kickstands and
all reflectors must be removed. Bicycles shall be equipped with a
number plate, and Bicycles must have an operable brake on the rear
wheel and a device, which prevents the seat post from penetrating
the bicycle’s seat.
- Optional equipment: Knee pads, elbow pads,
gloves, socks, and pads on the bicycle’s top tube, the handlebar
crossbar and the stem by which the bars are connected to the fork.
CLASSES: A person who applies for a membership at a proficiency level at or above that which he has previously raced either as part of the NBL or under another recognized sanction. Proficiency levels from the lowest to the highest are as follows:
For Boys: 20" – Rookie, Novice, Expert, Jr. Men, Super-Ex, Elite
24"(Cruiser) – Cruiser, Pro-Crusier
For Girls: 20" – Female Rookie, Girls, Elite Girls. 24" – Girls Cruiser
